Mother and Child Health Care

There is no greater warrior than a mother protecting her child

The situation of maternal, newborn and child health in Pakistan is one of the poorest in South Asia. Despite some improvements in the 1990s, Pakistan has lagged behind many of it neighbors in terms of health and population outcomes. The infant mortality rate of 78 per 1000 live births and a recently calculated maternal mortality rate of 276 per 100,000 live births are both higher than other neighboring South Asian countries. Pakistan lions Youth Council implemented the projects To Improve maternal and newborns health seeking behaviour in selected communities, through viable and demonstrable initiatives to increase awareness , Community Mobilization and capacity-building of existing programs and structures within health systems and communities, to ensure improvements and strengthen links in the continuum of health care for women from the home to the hospital. Project was funded by USIAD/JSI
