Pakistan Lions Youth Council commemorated the World TB day on March 24th at the Governor House of Punjab (Lahore) to honor the TB Warriors who have worked tirelessly for the control of TB in the country. The World TB Day is an important global event celebrated annually to raise awareness about the impact of tuberculosis (TB) on communities around the world. The event was attended by prominent government officials, healthcare professionals, and members of civil society. Governor Punjab Mr. Muhammad baleegh Ul Rehman honoured the event. The event started with a welcome note from the Executive Director of the Pakistan Lions Youth Council followed by Remarks from the Worthy Governor of Punjab Health professionals shared the data and evidences about the current situation of TB in Pakistan especially in Punjab. Worthy Governor Punjab shared the efforts of Government of Pakistan especially Punjab Government for the prevention ,diagnose /Testing and treatment of TB patients in Punjab. A highlight of the event was the distribution of shields to the TB Warriors who have made significant contributions to TB control efforts in Pakistan.
These warriors have played a critical role in raising awareness about TB, providing treatment and care to those affected by the disease, and advocating for better policies and resources to combat TB.Program Director Provincial TB Control said that the shields will serve as a symbol of recognition and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of these TB Warriors and will inspire others to join the fight against TB. The event will conclude with a call to action for all stakeholders to work together to end TB in Pakistan, and to ensure that everyone affected by the disease receives the care and support they need.
Governor Punjab Mr.Muhammad baleegh Ul Rehman said that overall, the World TB Day event at the Governor House in Punjab is a significant opportunity to raise awareness about TB, recognize the efforts of TB Warriors, and mobilize support for the fight against TB in the country. It is a reminder that the battle against TB is ongoing, and that we must all work together to achieve a TB-free world. He shared that Pakistan is still far behind in achieving the target of TB free Pakistan He said that as Chancellor he has given the instructions to health universities to work in the field of family health. He appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Lions Youth Council and Punjab TB Control program to eradicate TB in Pakistan . He shared that with the support and efforts of Civil society and Punjab government we will achieve the Mission of Government of Pakistan is Effectively end the TB epidemic in Pakistan by 2035 with Vision, A TB- free Pakistan with zero deaths, disease, and poverty caused by TB. And by God .s grace Punjab government is very dedicated and is contributing in the Goal of government of Pakistan by Get back on track to end the TB epidemic by 2030.
